The whole week can be based on a single cut of steak. Rotating the sides leads to a different meal experience each day. Take a trip around the world with rotating spices. A very big flank steak is the base. On Monday serve steak with roasted potatoes and a salad. On Tuesday add some spices and a little salsa for a taste from south of the border – make it steak Fajitas. On Wednesday make it Asian with some Teriyaki sauce, rice and vegetables. Add asparagus on Thursday and smash the potatoes. Spice it Greek on some pita for Friday Gyros. That’s one meat for five meals.
What, there’s even more to do with the steak? Fine, prepare your pallet. Give a whirl to steak salad wraps with horseradish sauce, or try bean salad and flanked steak . Now add another meat, and the variety is even more endless. Chicken can be fried, broiled with potatoes, cut into strips and added to salad, or cooked into a soup with noodles or dumplings. The possibilities are endless.
With a little clever planning all the meals for the week can be cooked on the weekend, then heated and served in minutes. Plan an entire menu for a month then buy all the necessities for some good savings too. The children can learn about cooking too. Put them in charge for a week. Give each family member a turn.
